Egypt denies Sisi assassination plot
Egypt’s presidential spokesperson denied that an assassination plot against President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi kept him away from the Arab League summit in Mauritania, an Egyptian new website reported on Monday. Presidential spokesperson told Daily News Egypt that the report published in the daily Al-Masry Al-Youm quoting unnamed sources that there was an assassination plot planned at the summit, was “not true.” Sources in the presidency said that Sisi’s next scheduled trip is to the G20 summit in China in September. At least seven Arab leaders are planning on attending the 27th Arab League summit this week in Nouakchott, Al-Arabiya television reported. • Ariel Ben Solomon
