Optica Internatio­nal notches 1st win in softball

Optica Internatio­nal began the 2017 season with an easy victory over A4 18-7 in Jerusalem Softball League action.

OI broke open a close game with a nine run barrage in the fourth inning and cruised the rest of the way.

Daniel Zacks led OI with four hits and three RBI’s, while also making an incredible catch in centerfiel­d to end the game. Ami Bogot also had four hits and four RBI’s.

Pitcher Danny Gewirtz stifled the A4 bats most of the way until a five-run last inning made the final score respectabl­e. Gewirtz, playing in his 28th season, also went 3-3 and getting on base all four times.

OI is looking for its third championsh­ip in the last six years and despite losing the three Schwartz brothers to fast-pitch softball, is the odds-on favorite after adding slugger Mutti Cassel, Zacks and PME WFUFSBO #FOKJF )FSTILPXJU[
