Ga’ash golfers stay busy even in winter months
The Ga’ash Golf Club held an open-house tournament last week, in which local members were requested to invite non-members to play.
The format of the event was a better-ball Stableford, with some of the pairings also made up of only local members.
Gary Vandermolen and Doron Koliner took first place followed by Brian Galgut and Dave Haskell. Nearest-to-the-pin prizes went to Yehuda Levy and Galgut. The 52 participants enjoyed the awards ceremony and barbecue held at the Agala coffee shop on the Ga’ash grounds.
In other action, after heavy rains, the course was in very good condition for the Ga’ash January Monthly Medal.
Michael Cohen played the best golf of the day with a gross score of 74, which included an identical front-nine and back-nine of two-over-par 37. On the front-nine, Michael had a birdie, five pars and three bogeys. He then started the back-nine with a pair of bogeys, before completing his round with seven pars in a row.
Zalman Shahaff took top honors in the A Division, followed by Moshe Nessis. The B Division was won by Adele Katz, with Uri Blum the runner-up.
The Super Seniors event was won by Mike Ossip, followed by Abraham Lavi, while the nearest-to-the-pin prize went to Galgut.
