The Air and Light of Franco Albini

Abitare - - BOOSTER -

It is the empty spaces that have to be designed as air and light are construction materials, said Franco Albini in 1954. This attention to lightness, as well as to purity and rigor of form, also found expression in his characteristic tendency never to say much about himself and his works, letting them speak for themselves. For this reason too the exhibition La sostanza della forma, curated by Giampiero Bosoni and Albini’s son Marco and organized by the Italian Institute of Culture in Paris in collaboration with the Fondazione Franco Albini, is proposed as an intimate and unprecedented glimpse of the work of the great architect and designer almost forty years after his death, through the medium of his personal objects and many original photographs, bearing witness to the fundamental elective affinities of his life. The exhibition, open until 30 May, has been staged with the support of Cassina, the company that has been producing the objects Albini designed since 2008.
