Venetian Glass in Holland
For over 25 years Adriano Berengo has invited the most prominent names from the international art world to his Murano furnace, connecting them with an artisanal know-how that would otherwise risks being trapped by its own mythology. Since 2009 the Fondazione Berengo has sponsored the biennale exhibition Glasstress in the Venetian Palazzo Franchetti. This year the striking and revolutionary universe of Berengo Studio 1989 invades the ancient Dutch city of Dordrecht. Up to 25 September the exhibition Glassfever. Contemporary Art in Glass can be seen in a multi-site format, that on the one hand highlights the extraordinary collection of 300 works created by artists like Joana Vasconselos, Jan Fabre, Pino Castagna, Tony Cragg, Tracey Emin and Mimmo Paladino. On the other hand it presents the work that resulted from the artistic residency at Berengo’s furnace by 5 artists selected by Dutch institutions: Rossella Biscotti, Folkert de Jong, Zoro Feigl, Thomáš Libertíny and Giny Vos.
