What is the mea­ning of re­fu­ge in ti­mes of glo­bal mi­gra­tion? Tem­po­ra­ry shel­ters are at the cen­tre of In­se­cu­ri­ties – Tra­cing Di­spla­ce­ment and Shel­ter on di­splay from 1 Oc­to­ber to 22 Ja­nua­ry at the New York MoMA. Lo­ca­ted on the se­cond floor of the Dunn Gal­le­ry, the ex­hi­bi­tion que­stions how art, ar­chi­tec­tu­re and de­si­gn ha­ve re­spon­ded to the is­sue by wor­king in a ran­ge of sca­les and me­diums. The idea ca­me to the cu­ra­tors Sean An­der­son and Ariè­le Dion­ne-Kro­snick af­ter they lear­ned of a shoc­king fi­gu­re from the Uni­ted Na­tions: to­day the­re are mo­re than 67 mil­lion re­fu­gees and asy­lum see­kers.

Gra­zie al­le nuo­ve tec­no­lo­gie, in­ve­ce, la ve­tri­na può tra­sfor­mar­si da sem­pli­ce con­te­ni­to­re a “mac­chi­na” ca­pa­ce di as­sol­ve­re ina­spet­ta­te fun­zio­ni. Con un’im­por­tan­te in­no­va­zio­ne, Gop­pion – azien­da ita­lia­na at­ti­va nel­la pro­get­ta­zio­ne di te­che mu­sea­li – ha in­fat­ti mes­so a pun­to una ve­tri­na con sen­so­ri in­te­gra­ti che non so­lo for­ni­sce al per­so­na­le del mu­seo i da­ti le­ga­ti al­la con­ser­va­zio­ne dell’ope­ra (umi­di­tà, tem­pe­ra­tu­ra, vi­bra­zio­ni), ma in­te­ra­gi­sce an­che con i vi­si­ta­to­ri, il­lu­mi­nan­do e for­nen­do in­for­ma­zio­ni.
