Ten­der&toys: Foi­ler - The fly­ing boat

Foi­ler is a re­vo­lu­tio­na­ry boat built by Ena­ta in the Uni­ted Arab Emi­ra­tes. Pre­sen­ted in the cour­se of the la­te­st Du­bai In­ter­na­tio­nal Boat Show whi­ch was held from the end of Fe­brua­ry to the be­gin­ning of Mar­ch she at­trac­ted mu­ch at­ten­tion and cu­rio­si­ty among the at­ten­ding vi­si­tors. As can be gues­sed from the na­me: Foi­ler, pos­ses­ses two re­trac­ta­ble car­bon foils so she lif­ts out of the wa­ter for a good half a me­tre and ‘ flies’ along at mo­re than 40 kno­ts wi­th ba­re­ly a rip­ple and in great com­fort whi­le bur­ning 20% less fuel than a tra­di­tio­nal hull would.” Lift off ” has been de­si­gned to kick in gra­dual­ly in a pro­gres­si­ve way at ap­pro­xi­ma­te­ly 18 kno­ts for pas­sen­gers’ sa­fe­ty and com­fort. When tied up bo­th foils and dri­ves are re­trac­ted and po­si­tion them­sel­ves out of the wa­ter whi­ch trans­la­tes in­to en­han­ced ea­sy main­te­nan­ce whi­le al­lo­wing the al­mo­st ten me­tre Foi­ler to be sa­fe­ly sto­wed in su­pe­rya­ch­ts’ ga­ra­ge slo­ts. The on board hy­brid die­sel elec­tric po­wer hou­se, is es­sen­tial­ly ma­de up of twin BMW 320 HP ther­mal uni­ts, two elec­tric gen. se­ts and two tor­pe­do sha­ped elec­tric dri­ves. The new Pze­ro 1900 is to be the fleet’s flag­ship and is due to be laun­ched soon. Mea­n­whi­le Pirelli is con­ti­nuing to mar­ket the Pze­ro 1400 se­ries whi­ch is avai­la­ble in two ver­sions Ca­bin and Sport. Tec­no­rib has rea­li­zed this ya­cht wi­th in­put from Swe­di­sh de­si­gn stu­dio Oc­ke Man­ner­felt De­si­gn. The ya­cht fea­tu­res an ag­gres­si­ve dy­na­mic de­si­gn and fur­ther­mo­re sports a hull wi­th dou­ble re­dan con­fi­gu­ra­tion whi­ch trans­la­tes in­to hi­ghly per­for­ming speeds. The la­te­st ver­sion boasts as ma­ny as th­ree Mer­cu­ry Ve­ra­do 400R en­gi­nes whi­ch means the Pze­ro 1400 bol­ts along at mo­re than 40 kno­ts all out. Ho­we­ver for tho­se not pri­vi­le­ging ex­tre­me speeds, the yard sup­plies al­so less po­wer­ful in­boards or in­board-out­board en­gi­nes. In ea­ch con­fi­gu­ra­tion the deck lay­out of­fers am­ple spa­ce in whi­ch to en­joy re­la­xing mo­men­ts whi­le sun­ba­thing on am­ple sun pads in the bow area. Se­ve­ral lar­ge cu­shions fur­ni­sh the stern, as well as com­for­ta­ble set­tees in the coc­k­pit sec­tor, ju­st for­ward of the well equip­ped (in terms of ad­van­ced tech­no­lo­gy) helm con­trols sta­tion crea­te a wel­co­ming spot under a wind pier­cing hard­top whi­ch al­so shel­ters from the sun. En­ve­lo­ping yet com­for­ta­ble buc­ket sea­ts whi­ch are a mu­st ha­ve at hi-speed com­ple­te the pic­tu­re. The Ca­bin ver­sion has a mo­re crui­ser ty­pe con­fi­gu­ra­tion whe­re we find a wel­co­ming area for­ward of amid­ships wi­th a gal­ley equip­ped wi­th elec­tric cobs, a sink, frid­ge, set­tee, fol­lo­wed by a ba­th­room and a bow ca­bin for two, in ad­di­tion to se­ve­ral loc­kers and war­dro­bes.
