It’s not all about apparel, shoes and craft. Here’s some suggestions on typical products you must take home with you from your holidays in Campania. Cetara anchovy sauce, for instance, is derived from the fermentation of anchovies marinated in jars.
But most of all, lemons. Those in Sorrento are slightly smaller and rounder than the ones found in Amalfi. The latter have a more oblong shape and their peel is of a lighter shade of yellow, less bright than the one of lemons in Sorrento.
Both types grow on terraced cultivation areas descending steeply towards the sea and fill the air with their scent. They are used to make Limoncello, desserts, sorbets and slushies.
Non solo abbigliamento, scarpe e artigianato. Ecco alcuni suggerimenti su prodotti tipici da portare a casa al ritorno dalle vacanze in Campania. La colatura di alici di Cetara, per esempio, ricavata dalla fermentazione delle alici messe a marinare negli orci.
Ma, sopratutto, i limoni. Quelli di Sorrento sono leggermente più piccoli e più tondi degli amalfitani. Questi ultimi sono hanno forma più allungata e buccia di colore giallo chiaro, meno accesa di quella dei limoni di Sorrento.
Entrambi crescono su terrazzamenti che si affacciano ripidi sul mare e riempiono l’aria del loro profumo. Sono utilizzati per il famoso limoncello, per i dolci, i sorbetti e le granite.
