Pasticceria Marchesi, the sweetness of bygone times
If you ask any Milanese to suggest a topclass pastry shop in the city, he or she will undoubtedly recommend Pasticceria Marchesi! Depending on your taste, you can either opt for its more glamorous location in via Montenapoleone or head to its more historic venue in via Santa Maria alla Porta. We personally recommend the latter for one reason. Its owners have recently opened a new seating area (already present in the ‘50s and ‘60s) which has seen a return of the venue to its former splendour for an authentic trip back in time. Cosy and welcoming, the space mirrors the elegant, sophisticated atmosphere of the venue’s existing rooms and has become a new meeting place for customers who have patronized the historic pastry shop since it first opened. Instilled with a sense of restrained elegance,
62 Stefania Vida its exquisite period décor will immediately project you into another era. The project highlights the iconic elements of the space: carved oak paneling, the classic encaustic yellow of its walls and its terrazzo flooring blend harmoniously with its period furnishings. The whole is completed by round oak wood tables, comfortable green velvet chairs and wall niches featuring cases brimming over with the treats that tempt customers into the Marchesi universe.
