Where Naples Coast & Islands - - The Guide -

Discovering the Coast & Islands and this month’s hot venues

Lush vegetation, a mild climate and natural beauties: these are just some of the ingredients that make Capri one of the most sought-after tourist destinations in the world. Situated 17,000 nautical miles south of Naples, the Island extends over a surface area of 10 square kilometres, of which 4 belong to the commune of Capri and 6 to that of Anacapri. Capri stretches between Monte Tiberio and Monte Solaro, between Marina Grande and Marina Piccola, while Anacapri is located on a spacious plateau to the west of Monte Solaro. The area offers a plethora of tourist attractions: the famous Piazzetta, a glitzy open-air salon framed by see and be-seen cafès; the Faraglioni, the twin rock pinnacles sprouting from the ocean that have become the symbol of Capri; the Arco Naturale; the medieval Certosa di San Giacomo; the Grotta Azzurra, Capri’s single most famous attraction, a sea cave illuminated by otherworldly blue light; the Gardens of Augustus, perched above the sea and via Krupp, the intriguing scenic road that zig-zags from the Gardens of Augustus to Marina Piccola . After taking in the sights head to via Camerelle to indulge in a luxury shopping spree.
