MURAT KING OF NAPLES. AT THE DOUBLE!
An exhibition dedicated to Joachim Murat marking the end of the 200- year reign of the French government and the death of Murat, the French cavalry leader who was one of Napoleon’s most celebrated marshals and who, as king of Naples ( 1808– 15), lent stimulus to Italian nationalism. In addition to a vast display of maps, the exhibition also showcases works from private collections, including an official portrait by Gerard in which Murat wears a precious collar, also on display, featuring the symbols of the kingdom.
