Pizza triumphs in Campania
According to Gambero Rosso, the best Italian pizzerias are in Naples and, generally speaking, in Campania. Our region boasts the highest number of ‘ Tre Spicchi’ (‘ Three Slices’), with a total to 12 this year.
According to the Gambero Rosso’s ‘ Pizzerie d’Italia 2016’, the guide published this year in collaboration with the Consorzio Tutela vino Bardolino Doc, Campania was ranked as the number 1 pizza- making region in Italy, earning as many as 12 ‘ Tre Spicchi’ ( Three Slices), 8 of which were awarded to Naples, followed by Tuscany which came in at second place with only 5 ‘ Tre Spicchi’. The eight best Neapolitan pizzerias are Da Attilio alla Pignasecca, Trattoria Fresco, La Notizia, O’ Pizzaiuolo Guglielmo Vuolo, Sorbillo and Starita, while, in the province, Gambero Rosso ratings were awarded to Villa Giovanna, in Ottaviano, Era Ora, in Palma Campania, Pizzeria Salvo da Tre Generazioni, in San Giorgio a Cremano and Palazzo Vialdo, in Torre del Greco. Campania received the special ‘ Dough Masters’ award which went to Ciro Salvo, of pizzeria 50 Kalò in Naples, while the ‘ Pizza of the Year Awardì was won by the ‘ Pepe in Grani’ pizzeria located in Caiazzo, in the province of Caserta. Last but not least the best gluten- free pizzeria, created especially for glutenintolerant individuals, went to Marco Amoriello, of the “Il Guappo” pizzeria in Moiano, in the province of Benevento.
