An interview with Lello Esposito, a cult artist who has changed the aesthetics of the mask

ebruary is Carnival time: the mask that best represents Naples throughout the world is Pulcinella ( a well- known character in Italian puppetry, often called Punch in English). Where introduces you to this extraordinary symbolic character as seen through the eyes of Lello Esposito, an artist who, for years, has reinterpreted Pulcinella ( and all the other symbols associated with the city including horns, skulls, Vesuvius and San Gennaro) in his contemporary artworks. Thanks to his artistic research on archetypes and the cultural roots of Naples, Lello Esposito has managed to create an innovative interpretation of Neapolitan traditions, establishing himself to all intents and purposes as a ‘ cult artist’. Above all, Lello Esposito has combined his passion for art with his love of his city of birth, by introducing Naples and its creations to the rest of the world.
