As is cus­tom­ary each sum­mer, Ci­lento hosts an ex­trav­a­ganza ded­i­cated to the world of com­edy. The event was con­ceived in hon­our of Char­lie Chap­lin, the great­est comic ac­tor of the 20th cen­tury. Each year, the event awards prizes to well-know Ital­ian co­me­di­ans and up-and­com­ing com­i­cal tal­ent in cinema, the­atre, tele­vi­sion and fic­tion. An un­miss­able event for lovers of com­edy, an open-air the­atre that of­fers young artists a chance to gain ex­po­sure and ex­press their ideas, per­son­al­i­ties and de­ter­mi­na­tion in an on­go­ing line-up of per­for­mances, gags and sketches that will make peo­ple laugh and put them in a good mood. Each year, a jury con­sist­ing of jour­nal­ists from dif­fer­ent Ital­ian news­pa­pers, mag­a­zines and tele­vi­sion chan­nels, awards prizes to emerg­ing artists, of­ten se­lected dur­ing evening per­for­mances at venues and the­atres. This year, the Charlot Prize will kick off on 11 July at the Teatro delle Arti with the screen­ing of re­stored films and will con­tinue from 23 to 31 July at

Salerno’s Arena del Mare, with cabaret per­for­mances, con­certs and a gala evening at which prizes will be awarded for TV, film, fic­tion and other fields of en­ter­tain­ment. Al­ter­nately from 2 to 5 Au­gust, Bar­buti in Salerno will host per­for­mances of fairy­tales for chil­dren and cabaret acts.
