THE PRECIOUS JEWELS OF THE MAHARAJA
For the first time in Italy, Venice will host the renowned exhibition of Indian gems and jewelry from the Al Thani collection, whose pieces span the 16th through the 20th century. Showcasing over 270 precious objects, the exhibition at Palazzo Ducale explores five hundred centuries of jewelry production associated with, or inspired by, the Indian subcontinent. The collection features stunning pieces created for the nobility at the peak of the Mughal empire, the rich commissions of Maharajas under the British Raj, the celebrated Indian-inspired designs of Cartier and innovative creations of the 21st century that either use historic Indian gems, or are inspired by traditional forms of jewelry.
