Its fa­me and for­tu­ne stems from a soft, 7 cm long “pa­ni­nel­lo” (li­te­ral­ly, “ti­ny sand­wi­ch”), stuf­fed wi­th but­ter and two “aciu­ghe­te” (skin­less an­cho­vies in oil).
