Daily Observer (Jamaica) - - SPORT -

Port Maria turbos remained the only unbeaten team in the Costley Construction st Mary Boscobel Premier League when they stopped the high-riding Day’s Mountain strikers by three wickets with three balls to spare, in an exciting encounter at Boscobel oval on sunday.

In the other match played, Boscobel Warriors defeated Jack’s River Razors by 88 runs.

In the feature match, it was Port Maria who won the toss and sent Day’s Mountain in to bat. The previously unbeaten Day’s Mountain struggled from the outset before scoring 121 for seven off their 20 overs. Skipper Samuel Mcintosh with 34 and Renar Ross with 29 were the top batsmen. D Royal (4-20) and Taswayne Creary (3-19) were the bowling stalwarts for the Port Maria team.

Port Maria, in their knock, were paced by a captain’s knock of 34 not out from former West Indies Under-19 youth captain Andre Creary and brother Taswayne Creary (23). Jesse Alexander (2-15) was the top bowler for Day’s Mountain.

It was Jack’s River Razors who won the toss and inserted Boscobel, who racked up 174 for four off the match reduced to 18 overs, with Delroy Patterson slamming 57 and Adrian Sterling, 34, against Kemar Silvera 2-27 off four overs. Patterson was in a savage mood, smashing the bowling to all parts of the ground with admirable support from the able Sterling.

In their turn at the crease, the vaunted Jack’s River batting failed to sparkle, with only Richardo Thompson, who top-scored with 36, and Steve Williams, 11 not out, making any significant contribution against Tyrone Daley with 4-18 off four overs and Jason Goldson (3-22).
