Continue to facilitate growth
IT IS with great pleasure that I congratulate Technological Solutions Limited (TSL) on reaching its 20th year.
As minister of industry, commerce, agriculture and fisheries I have stressed the importance of producing world-class products that meet international requirements. As a nation we must look to expanding our markets, but if our products are not up to scratch, our efforts will be in vain.
As Jamaica strives towards growth in the economy, the essential pillars on which to build that growth are the agricultural, commerce and industry sectors, and key to the achievement of growth in these sectors is a standards-based approach to business practices.
It is in this context of optimising Jamaica’s productive capacity and international competitiveness that modern technology has an essential role to play and that TSL’s services and quest for excellence assume important significance.
Your efforts to assist businesses, from small through to medium and large, both locally and internationally, are commendable and we note, in particular, your achievement in providing world-class food-safety training, systems implementation and auditing services.
This is no small feat. Now, more than ever, issues of food safety and traceability standards to include good agricultural practices, good manufacturing practices, hazard analysis and critical control points and other quality management systems have become integral to global trade and, in this regard, TSL has distinguished itself as a leader and an active partner with groups such as the Bureau of Standards and the Jamaica Exporters Association in ensuring that Jamaican products are consistently in compliance with international standards.
I commend you and your team for your continued work and excellence and on behalf of the Ministry of Industry, Commerce, Agriculture and Fisheries, I urge you to continue to facilitate the growth and modernisation of industry and export in Jamaica.
Once again, I offer my heartiest congratulations to your institution on this signal achievement. May you continue to excel in your future endeavours. KARL SAMUDA Minister of Industry, Commerce, Agriculture and Fisheries
