First case of Zika Preg­nancy

GE­ORGE TOWN, (AP): THE CAYMAN Is­lands is re­port­ing its first case of a preg­nant woman in­fected with Zika.

The gov­ern­ment says it has a to­tal of 26 con­firmed cases of the mos­quito-borne virus, in­clud­ing 17 con­tracted lo­cally. Of­fi­cials said Wed­nes­day that the cases have been re­ported in the cap­i­tal, Ge­orge Town.

The Bri­tish Caribbean ter­ri­tory re­ported its first lo­cal Zika trans­mis­sion in Au­gust.

The virus can cause se­vere birth de­fects. Bri­tain’s Prince Wil­liam, and his wife Kate, the Duke and Duchess of Cam­bridge, ar­rive at a tea party with their chil­dren Prince Ge­orge and Princess Charlotte at Gov­ern­ment House in Vic­to­ria, Bri­tish Co­lu­miba, yes­ter­day.
