TRAGEDY RECENTLY struck St George’s College football team with the loss of their captain, the talented Dominic James. Though the team was in the middle of grieving, with just one week since his passing, the competition had to go on. The boys from North Street all wore the number seven on their sleeves and dedicated the game against St Catherine-based Greater Portmore High School to their fallen player. Prior to the start of the game, both teams observed a moment of silence to honour Dominic in front of patrons who came from near and far to show their love. Denese and Denis James, Dominic’s parents, were also present at the biggest turnout at a Manning Cup match so far this season. Despite their grief, St George’s could not be stopped, and they beat Greater Portmore High four goals to one in the ISSA-FLOW Manning Cup Group A at Winchester Park on Friday, September 23.
