Ki­mara Austin of Spald­ings High, who came in 24th over­all at 19 min­utes, 31 sec­onds, was the first-place fe­male. Gar­rett Don­ald, who at age 11 was the youngest com­peti­tor, came in 30th over­all at an im­pres­sive 20 min­utes and 35 sec­onds.

Oliphant and McKen­zie de­fended their ti­tles in the male and fe­male walk, re­spec­tively. Oliphant was timed in 29:40, while McKen­zie, who was third over­all, fin­ished in a time of 34:23.

Man­dev­ille-based jour­nal­ist Paul By­field, who cov­ered sport­ing events in Manch­ester and St El­iz­a­beth for the last 15 years, will be buried to­day fol­low­ing a church ser­vice start­ing 11 a.m. at the Pen­te­costal Church on Bru­malia Road.

By­field, who pri­mar­ily worked as a cor­re­spon­dent for CVM TV, died two weeks ago at the age of 54 after bat­tling colon can­cer.
