France Chambers – Pastor (Hanover):

Jamaica Gleaner - - WESTERN FOCUS -

Navorn Samuels, who still considered himself a Comrade, albeit he will be running as an independent candidate in the Green Island division, says he is “sick and tired” of both Hayles’ leadership style and his candidate-selection policy.

Repeated efforts by The Gleaner to contact Hayles, who is also the member of parliament for Western Westmoreland, proved futile.

Outside of Hanover, the parish council seats are expected to follow the pattern of the recent general election, which would seem to suggest that, St James and St Elizabeth will fall to the JLP; and Trelawny and Hanover could go either way. Westmoreland is expected to stay firm PNP.

The dynamics in Trelawny could be most interesting as with Patmore not running, it will be interesting to see where his independent Lorimers seat will go. Additionally, it will be interesting to see where the chips fall in the Albert Town division, where Gillings won for the JLP four years ago, but subsequently switched allegiance to the PNP.
