Another day, another change

The Ministry of Education intends to make foreign languages compulsory for all students from grades one to nine. Education Minister Ruel Reid says this move forms part of the ministry’s foreign language policy in schools. Personally, I’ve long recognised the need to be able to understand and speak another language, and so has today’s employers. Therefore, this isn’t a bad thing. Still, this education ministry seems to be on a roll with the changes. There have been intentions to change GSAT, make technical subjects compulsory, extend the length of time students stay in school, and now this. Don’t get me wrong, change is good, but somehow all this seems overwhelming.
