Jamaica Gleaner - - NEWS -

SHOCK AND grief gripped students and staff at the Kingston College yesterday after Christopher Gayle, a teacher at the institution, collapsed and died on the school premises.

Reports are that Gayle, who taught economics and accounts, was in a class about 10 o’clock yesterday morning, when he left for the bathroom and did not return. After inspections, he was found on the floor. He was rushed to Kingston Public Hospital and was later pronounced dead.

Fredrick Kepple, the school bursar, in an interview with The Gleaner, said that he was shaken by the incident, adding that Gayle’s loss would impact the school significantly.

“He actually invigilated an exam and he seemed to be OK. He went to the bathroom and he was found there. He started showing signs as he turned blue and he was rushed to the hospital, where it was later confirmed that he died,” Kepple said. “He was a cooperative gentleman, well mannered and well respected by the school. Generally a good person. We would have interacted because of the school support and getting school supplies.”
