Spain cel­e­brates with f lamenco

THE VA­LEN­CIA Suite at the Span­ish Court Ho­tel, will come alive on Fri­day, Novem­ber 4 at 7:30 p.m., with the sounds and rhythms of a fla­menco show­case fea­tur­ing Las Mi­gas, a Span­ish fe­male quar­tet.

The event is be­ing or­gan­ised by the Em­bassy of Spain as part of the cel­e­bra­tory ac­tiv­i­ties com­mem­o­rat­ing 50 years of di­plo­matic re­la­tions be­tween Spain and Ja­maica, while also ob­serv­ing 10 years since the es­tab­lish­ment of The Span­ishJa­maican Foun­da­tion.

As Car­men Rives RuizTapi­ador, chargé d’af­faires of the Em­bassy of Spain ex­plains, “Cul­ture is a strong bond be­tween Ja­maica and Spain and we con­sis­tently try to bring ele­ments of both coun­tries’ cul­ture to­gether to unite the peo­ple and to help in un­der­stand­ing each other.”

MU­SI­CAL BLEND

The four women of Las Mi­gas – Marta Robles and Ali­cia Grillo (gui­tarists), Alba Car­mona (vo­cal­ist/dancer), Roser Loscos (vi­o­lin­ist/vo­cal­ist) – are set to cap­ti­vate the Ja­maican au­di­ence with their unique blend of fla­menco and Mediter­ranean styles, com­pris­ing clas­sic and con­tem­po­rary rhythms, and melodies that range from pow­er­ful to pas­sion­ate to play­ful.

A se­cond per­for­mance will be held at the Mon­tego Bay Cul­tural Cen­tre in Mon­tego Bay on Satur­day, Novem­ber 5 at 7:30 p.m.

Both per­for­mances, free of cost and open to the pub­lic, have been made pos­si­ble with the kind spon­sor­ship of The Span­ish-Ja­maican Foun­da­tion, Hu­mi­clima, LASCO Af­fil­i­ated Com­pa­nies, Round Hill Ho­tel and Vil­las, Span­ish Court Ho­tel and the Mon­tego Bay Cul­tural Cen­tre.
