It’s al­most all sys­tems go as the new water slide at Dunn’s River Falls and Park cen­tral gar­dens is be­ing tested and com­mis­sioned. Ob­serv­ing the ac­tiv­ity are Michelle Sawyer, as­sis­tant man­ager, Dunn’s River Falls and Park, along with Jerry Peter­son, sales rep­re­sen­ta­tive, United In­dus­tries Inc/Swim­time. The pro­ject, which com­menced in Oc­to­ber 2015, geared to­wards di­ver­si­fy­ing the at­trac­tion’s of­fer­ings, ap­proaches com­ple­tion. The new fea­ture in­te­grates a water slide with vend­ing kiosks into a trop­i­cal gar­den set­ting. The Ur­ban Devel­op­ment Cor­po­ra­tion (UDC), which man­ages the fa­cil­ity through the St Ann Devel­op­ment Com­pany, has re­ceived bids from prospec­tive con­ces­sion­aires to of­fer com­ple­men­tary goods and ser­vices, a mea­sure which will fa­cil­i­tate in­creased busi­ness op­por­tu­ni­ties for en­trepreneurs. These bids are cur­rently be­ing eval­u­ated as part of the Govern­ment of Ja­maica’s pro­cure­ment process. The UDC is vested in the con­tin­u­ous devel­op­ment of the world-famous at­trac­tion for the sus­tained ben­e­fit of its vast in­take of lo­cal and in­ter­na­tional vis­i­tors.
