Bullet of power!

Jamaica Gleaner - - ARTS&EDUCATION - – Pastor C. Billy Leslie

Viciously striking at the hearts of Jamaicans tonight

A blazing bullet of power, that had long taken flight It cut down a budding plant, one youth laid dead But from far away I felt that shot in my head A whole nation now feels the effect of its velocity No gun, just bullet – what courtroom audacity! A bullet of power, journeyed more than five years

It turned contours and corners and it shifted gears

John public awaited; yes we all cocked our ears Now more than a family, a nation left in tears Jaws of power legislated, don’t you dare comment! We saw the bullet coming and started to lament Where did it come from; mystery bullet unknown? But it blew our minds – our minds are blown Now faster than a bullet that travelled six years The case is all over, and the smoke quickly clears

The blast still resonates, yet there’s hidden residue

Probably a detailed search will unveil what’s true A bullet of power, that still pierces at the heart Has been inflicting heartaches, right from the start

A bullet of power; and it’s from an unknown gun

Now the bullet still travels, and the gun’s on the run!
