IN MANY ways, Al­li­son Porter Smalling has lucked out. She’s build­ing a busi­ness do­ing ex­actly what she loves, and most of all, it keeps her close to home. With Ally’s Kitchen, her boom­ing ca­ter­ing op­er­a­tion, she’s throw­ing down de­li­cious eats at ev­ery­thing from pri­vate VIP din­ners to daily lunches for the desk set. “In be­tween all of that, I have to feed my fam­ily, who have very high ex­pec­ta­tions for what they eat. As far as they are con­cerned, they are my first and most im­por­tant clients, so I bet­ter come good when I’m cook­ing for them,” she says with her sig­na­ture warm laugh.

“Tonight I have a din­ner for 20 guests, but the kids are home with their friends, so for them it’s wings. Who doesn’t love wings?” For her recipe, Al­li­son chooses The Best Dressed Chicken Wings in the re­seal­able bag. “Time is a pre­mium for me, as it is for most work­ing moms. These wings are frozen in­di­vid­u­ally so I can cook as many or as lit­tle I like.”
