Chair of the NCMC Dr Pauline Mullings said the annual forum provides a platform for students to express their ideas and concerns about topical issues and how these matters affect their wellbeing.

“It allows them to come up with solutions to problems as well as learn about their responsibility to effect positive change on matters that concern them,” she noted.

State Minister in the Ministry of Education, Youth and Information Floyd Green is scheduled to deliver the keynote address, while Patron of Child Month Douglas Orane will bring greetings.

Students participating in the forum will be drawn from 23 high schools in the parishes of Kingston, St Andrew, St Thomas, Clarendon, and St Catherine. The day’s activities will start at 10 a.m. and will include entertainment and exhibition booths mounted by the Broadcasting Commission of Jamaica, the National Family Planning Board, and the National Council on Drug Abuse.

The youth forum remains one of several activities organised by the NCMC, which, since its inception in 1953, has spearheaded the annual observance of Child Month.
