A light of love and life

Jamaica Gleaner - - MESSAGE -

“Blessed be the Lord God of Israel, for He has looked favourably on His people and redeemed them.” Luke 1:68.

JOYFUL GREETINGS to the clergy and faithful as you celebrate the first 150 years of the reawakened Church in Spanish Town. I am delighted to be associated with you as you offer prayers of praise and songs of thanksgiving to the allloving and merciful God.

Under the patronage of St Joseph, your faith community has been at the service of Jesus Christ in bringing light, love, and life to the people of the Old Capital city. it has been renewed and rejuvenated by the Second Vatican Council, and now as it celebrates this great Jubilee, I am certain it looks to the future with hopeful enthusiasm.

Recall the long list of clergy, religious, and faithful who, from their thrones of glory, will be joining the living faithful in this church, which their faith and work made possible.

May you have a blessed and spiritually enriching jubilee year. Cordially in Christ, THE MOST REVEREND EDGERTON R. CLARKE Archbishop Emeritus of Kingston, Jamaica
