JA BizTown – A town unlike any other
HAVE YOU ever met a 10-year-old CEO? Stop by JA BizTown and you will see!
JA BizTown is Jamaica’s newest town located on the Ministry of Education’s Caenwood property at 37 Arnold Road in Kingston. The town was opened approximately one year ago and was specifically created for children to give them first-hand and practical experience in business management and operations.
The town comprises several reallife private-sector businesses, including CB Tuckshop, EY, First Global Bank, FLOW, GB Texaco, Guardsman, Jamaica Public Service, Jamaica Yellow Pages and
Spanish Court Hotel. At JA BizTown, children are both workers and consumers, and therefore engage in activities such as running businesses, earning paycheques, conducting financial transactions at the bank, paying bills and investing in businesses.
JA BizTown is an initiative of JA Jamaica and is targeted at Grade-five students. The initiative is designed to develop the business IQ of students and prepare them with the skillsets needed for the world of work.
