Junior Achievement Company of Entrepreneurs (JACE) Programme
THE JUNIOR Achievement Company of Entrepreneurs (JACE) Programme is a signature programme delivered by Junior Achievement (JA) Jamaica. It focuses on introducing students to entrepreneurship; teaching them to put theory into practice by starting their own business enterprises. It also helps students to think creatively and ambitiously, develop workreadiness skills, interpersonal communication skills and problem-solving skills.
The programme was first established in 2009 and was initially offered as an afterschool programme in approximately 50 high schools across the island. However, in an effort to encourage entrepreneurship among high-school students, JA Jamaica in partnership with the Ministry of Education, Youth and Information has expanded the JACE Programme to all grade-nine students islandwide. The expansion began in September of this year, and the programme is now offered in different high schools in an in-school or after-school setting. With the expansion, JA Jamaica and the ministry expect that the programme will reach over 40,000 students annually by 2019.
