Pizzaz!: Creating excitement with cupcakes

Jamaica Gleaner - - MESSSAGE -

IF THEY’RE lucky, most people figure out what they want to do for a living sometime in their mid-20s, but the decision to become an event planner/caterer came, well early, to 19-year-old Zabrina Smith. In fact, it came to her while attending the St Hugh’s High School for Girls, where she participated in the Junior Achievement Company of Entrepreneurs (JACE) Programme offered by Junior Achievement (JA) Jamaica.

Zabrina participated in the programme for three consecutive years and made products including decorative T-shirts, bags and phone charger holders. She did exceptionally well in the programme and was invited by JA Jamaica to attend a Youth Entrepreneurship Initiative Conference. When asked why the name Pizzaz! Zabrina discloses, “I chose the name because it captures the very essence of my business. Pizzaz! is the Spanish word for excitement, and it is my intention to create excitement among my customers with the services I offer so, that, in the near future, I will be considered the business of choice for all event planning and catering needs”.
