Foska Oats and Blue Diamond partner with DAJ for Diabetes Month 2016

Jamaica Gleaner - - DIABETES WEEK FEATURE -

CHAS E. RAMSON Limited, through its Foska and Blue Diamond brands, has shown its commitment to the fight against diabetes by its partnership with the Diabetes Association of Jamaica for Diabetes Month 2016. As we celebrate with the association this month, its theme ‘Eyes on Diabetes’ is a befitting one, as we try and combat this menacing disease that has touched the lives of every Jamaican.

The impact of diabetes cannot be overlooked and, therefore, venturing into a partnership with the diabetes association is one that is not only relevant, but is necessary as we seek to educate Jamaicans on the benefits of healthy lifestyle through the promotion of healthier nutritional choices.

The statistics on this noncommunicable disease are frightening: Diabetes is the second leading cause of death in Jamaica. Diabetes affects 17.9 per cent of the population 15 years and older and approximately 10,000 children under 15 have diabetes. Diabetes has shown that it is no respecter of race, class, gender or age.

Our ‘Take Control’ initiative is one that encourages each Jamaican to be the drivers of a healthier and longer life for themselves. By taking control of our lifestyles through the consumption of healthier options, as well as reducing our stress through exercise, we can take control out of the hands of diabetes and into our own hands. We will then be able to have a stronger and healthier Jamaica.

Try these two delicious recipes and start taking control today!
