Hillary repeated errors of 2008

Jamaica Gleaner - - OPINION & COMMENTARY -

THE EDITOR, Sir: IT IS always a pleasure reading Annie Paul’s pieces. They are insightful, prescient, and relevant.

Her latest piece, ‘Trumpistan’, is accurate. It, in simple form, explains the conditions leading to the rise of Trumpism and his victory. Interestingly enough, while Ms Paul’s explanation mirrored my assessment of the political landscape, prior to the elections I still had not concluded that Hillary Clinton would have lost the election. I thought the Clinton campaign team was aware of these circumstances and would have made the adjustments.

However, they repeated the failed campaign strategy of ignoring the variables Paul cites, ignored the working class, the working poor, and the poor. The campaign did not tailor its campaign to address the concerns of the above-stated classes. Trump did.

Instead, they repeated their 2008 failed strategy against then candidate Barack Obama. His campaign focused on the (small) caucuses, hers on primaries. WINSTON E. SMITH JR0winstonsmith545@gmail.com
