SFP six-a-side foot­ball fi­nal to­day

DE­FEND­ING CHAMPIONS Eurotrend will be look­ing to cre­ate his­tory in the 2016 Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce six-a-side foot­ball com­pe­ti­tion by be­com­ing the first team to win the ti­tle twice when they op­pose Ashoka in to­mor­row’s fi­nal at 451 Span­ish Town Road (Waterhouse) op­po­site Wray & Nephew start­ing at 4.00 p.m.

Eurotrend de­feated 2015 beaten fi­nal­ists Miles 2-1 on the back of a double strike from Kevin Ro­mans, with Jer­maine Gar­dener scor­ing for Miles in semi-fi­nal two.

Ashoka, mean­while, clipped Hen­ley 5-4 on penal­ties af­ter the scores were locked 0-0 in reg­u­la­tion and ex­tra time.

The win­ner of to­day’s fi­nal will re­ceive $150,000. In­ci­den­tally, host FraserPryce ac­tu­ally grew up on Ashoka Road in the Waterhouse com­mu­nity.

THIRD-PLACE PLAY-OFF

At 3 p.m., Miles and Hen­ley will meet in the third-place play-off. The day’s ac­tiv­ity will start at 2:30 p.m. when the un­der15 youth teams of Ashoka and Miles will meet in a ju­nior tal­ent ex­po­sure game.

An­dre Hick­ling of Miles, Gavin McKay of Mal­ha­tra and Akeem Peter­son of Youths United are the com­pe­ti­tion’s lead­ing scor­ers with three goals each.
