Uber seek­ing ride into a rare state with­out it: Wy­oming

The Elf on a Shelf bal­loon moves down Sixth Av­enue dur­ing the Macy’s Thanks­giv­ing Day Pa­rade, yes­ter­day in New York. CHEYENNE, WY (AP): THE RIDE-SHAR­ING ser­vice Uber is look­ing to be­gin ser­vice in Wy­oming, one of the few states where it is not yet do­ing busi­ness.

Wy­oming law will need to be changed be­fore ride-shar­ing ser­vices may op­er­ate in the state. State law­mak­ers say they are draft­ing leg­is­la­tion.

Uber users ar­range rides us­ing a smart­phone app that charges the ride to their credit card. Brian Geb­hardt of Uber said once state law al­lows ride-shar­ing, the com­pany could be­gin op­er­at­ing in Wy­oming quickly.
