Last Wednesday marked another significant move by Huawei to solidify its position in the Jamaican marketplace, with the signing of an official agreement with Intcomex, a go-to market platform of value-added solutions and technology products. Huawei and Intcomex announced a new strategic partnership in which both companies will be combining their resources to build the Huawei brand in Jamaica with a main focus being the extensive promotion of Huawei’s Mate 8 and P9 family. Together, Huawei and Intcomex are co-innovating around the strength and breadth of Intcomex in Jamaica, with equal focus on Huawei, its strength worldwide and the devices that they have to bring to the Jamaican market. Huawei looks to compete with the increasing volumes of smartphones that are saturating the market today and, hopefully, replacing them with their high-end affordable substitutions. “We are very pleased to form a strategic partnership with Intcomex. By combining Huawei’s expertise in advanced smartphone development with Intcomex’s vision of strengthening Huawei’s presence though its reseller channel, we can define exciting new opportunities for getting our name out to the public in a broader way”, said Chrysta Walker, marketing and PR manager, Huawei.

FIRST CO-INNOVATION FOCUS

The first co-innovation focus area will be the ‘Stability of Huawei in Jamaica’, which will bring a new approach to combining Intcomex’ direct relationships with over 80 branded vendors and hundreds of generic and OEM manufacturers.

Intcomex’s strong relationships with their vendors allow access to a large pool of knowledge, expertise and technology, which Huawei will take advantage of to strengthen its distribution.

Sheryl Simpson, product & marketing manager at Intcomex, explained, “As we enter a new era of information-centric smartphones, companies must coinnovate Entertainer Denyque and Austin Briscoe examine phones on display at the Huawei Intcomex event on Tuesday at @twentythree in New Kingston.

to solve tough problems for their customers. This is why we are working with Huawei, a market leader in smartphone development and business solution. This new offer represents our belief that the future of smartphone market is with Huawei and we hope to be hand in hand with Huawei as they cross the finish line.”

In the region, Intcomex operates in over 15 countries and boasts an active reseller channel of over 1,500 partners, which will impact Huawei’s bottom line significantly. Both companies are looking forward to embarking on this journey together, and are confident that it will lead to even more greatness.
