Messages In memory of Monsignor Richard Albert

Jamaica Gleaner - - ENTERTAINMENT -

MONSIGNOR RICHARD Albert is often described as ‘bigger than life’ and he remains a controversial figure in death as he was in life. However, his contribution to the apostolate of charity is unmistakably profound and remains an invaluable legacy, not to be forgotten, of social intervention making a difference in the lives of so many persons in our nation.

His vision for establishing the St Patrick’s Foundation and The Stella Maris Foundation was rooted in his commitment to promote in practical ways the dignity of the person, a fundamental principle of Catholic social teaching.

As the anniversary of Monsignor Albert’s passing is commemorated, may all persons of goodwill continue supporting the good work that he begun, so that many more of our nation’s children can find the necessary support for their personal enhancement. In this way, we will ensure the equipping of more persons who can contribute to the advancement of our nation, while providing for themselves and for their family’s well-being.

Eternal rest grant on to Monsignor Albert, O Merciful Lord! And let perpetual light shine upon him. May his soul rest in your peace! MOST REV KENNETH D. RICHARDS, DD Archbishop of Kingston
