Plan­ning Ed­ward Seaga tells an In­terAmer­i­can De­vel­op­ment Bank mis­sion that the new self-sup­port­ing farm scheme is to be the num­ber-one pri­or­ity among the projects which the Gov­ern­ment of Ja­maica pre­pares for sub­mis­sion to the In­ter-Amer­i­can De­vel­op­ment Bank. Seaga says that some 50 per cent of the is­land’s pop­u­la­tion de­rive their liv­ing from farm­ing; there­fore, the fi­nanc­ing of small farm­ers is the an­swer to get­ting the ru­ral ar­eas into the scheme of de­vel­op­ment. 1969:Clubs The Ja­maica 4-H
