“There was a grow­ing need for a cool place to dine at in Kingston 8 and its en­vi­rons. The shar­ing of this dream over wine and de­lec­ta­ble treats saw the un­fold­ing of a con­cept which emerged as Cel­lar 8 — the wine, bistro and lounge lo­cated in Up­per Manor Park Plaza,” the Cel­lar 8 team ex­plained in an email re­sponse.

They added, “The Cel­lar 8 Team has been striv­ing to meet de­mands, and work­ing hard to en­sure that guests en­joy a re­lax­ing and re­ward­ing ex­pe­ri­ence, when­ever they dine with us at the Cel­lar in Kingston 8. We are evolv­ing and tak­ing shape, learn­ing ev­ery day and ap­pre­cia­tive of all the feed­back which helps us make ad­just­ments and con­tin­ues to move in the right di­rec­tion. This dy­namic team is ex­cited and our guests re­ally do in­spire us.”

So far, they al­ready have quite a few favourites. Their crowd-pleasers in­clude their sig­na­ture ox­tail tacos and five-spiced pork belly slider ap­pe­tis­ers, along with their herb roasted salmon and Ca­jun-rubbed fil­let mignon. Also the pop­u­lar C8 piz­zas and ev­ery one of their ve­gan dishes, in­clud­ing, the black bean and sweet corn slid­ers and their veg­gie piz­zas (with­out cheese). Sali­vat­ing yet?

As far as cock­tails go, their flavoured mo­ji­tos will ig­nite your taste buds with a burst of fresh­ness. Sev­eral of their Cel­lar 8 cock­tails fea­ture lo­cal in­gre­di­ents such as lemon grass and Scotch bon­net pep­per – if you dare to add spice to your life, and the sea­sonal sor­rel, just in time for Christ­mas. “Pop into Cel­lar 8 and be sure to ask to try the new, sea­sonal ad­di­tion, the Cel­lar Star, and tell us what you think,” they en­cour­aged.

By far, the best fea­ture of the bistro is the wine wall, boast­ing an ex­ten­sive but se­lec­tive col­lec­tion of more than 100 vin­tage and con­tem­po­rary wines. “We re­ally want to give our guests a unique and mem­o­rable din­ing ex­pe­ri­ence en­hanced by great wine at var­i­ous price points,” they stressed

An added bonus, is that you can pur­chase a bot­tle or two while din­ing in or pick it up on your way home or to a func­tion. “Wine and wine ac­ces­sories make the per­fect gift for many oc­ca­sions and Cel­lar 8 is stocked with items for your Christ­mas shop­ping list,” they af­firmed.

Open­ing hours are Tues­days to Thurs­days 4 p.m.-11 p.m.; Fri­days and Satur­days, 4 p.m.-12 a.m.; and Sun­days, 4 p.m.-11 p.m. So when life gets a lit­tle com­pli­cated, step into a whole new ex­pe­ri­ence: re­lax, re­con­nect and cel­e­brate at Cel­lar 8.
