The ceremony was conceptualised back in 2012 by then Chapter President Dwayne A. Gayle.

Dwayne Gutzmere, president of JCI Jamaica; Everton Hannam, president of the NPTAJ, and current local Chapter President Shakeish Gordon warmly greeted the audience.

During the general assembly that preceded the awards ceremony, Kerry-Ann Willis and Mario Galbert were inducted as members of the St Andrew Chapter.

The 14 awardees included teachers and parents from the regions in Jamaica, as well as parents, teachers and administrators from the Rock Hall Early Childhood Institution and Best Care Special Education School.

JCI St Andrew is a non-profit organisation that creates an atmosphere within which young people between the ages of 18-40 can develop their leadership skills. The chapter also seeks to provide development opportunities that empower young people to create positive change in the community.
