... ‘Partner with us to find illegal guns’

Jamaica Gleaner - - NEWS -

“WE HAVE seen what illegal guns and lottery scamming have been doing to St James in regards to the more than 200 murders since the start of the year,” said Senior Superintendent Marlon Nesbeth.

“We want to use this opportunity to again call on all lawabiding citizens to partner with us in finding the illegal guns. We know the guns are out there based on what has been happening in communities like Flankers, Norwood, and Salt Spring, among other communities.”

While the operation was unfolding in Cambridge, the police also had some success in the Red Dirt area of Flankers, where they seized a 9mm pistol and arrested two men. The names of the men were not released, pending further investigations.

St James has been under the national spotlight in recent weeks, following the declaration of the nation’s first zone of special operations in the Mt Salem community. St James had a record 268 murders last year.
