Mad, mad world

Jamaica Gleaner - - OPINION & COMMENTARY -

THE EDITOR, SIR: WHAT KIND of world are we living in? A crazy one!

When I leave my home to go out, it’s like I am going into the lion’s den. Because what I am hearing and seeing are not encouraging at all. There are more bad news that good news.

I see more serious-looking faces than smiling faces — faces that seem attacking and threatening to us. I am hearing more dirty music than clean music. I see more reckless driving than good driving on our roads.

Anywhere I turn, all I am hearing are bad words. Some of the indecent language I am hearing on a daily basis are damaging to the little children. I am seeing more warlike attitude among our citizens.

I am seeing more revenge than forgiveness; I am seeing more women beaters than gentle lovers. Women are being battered all over the place by their monster lovers.

We have been talking until thy kingdom, for us to love one another, but only a few are doing so. What I am seeing are waves of apathy: a lack of concern and love for one another.

I said it some time ago, and I will say it again: We are living in a mad, mad world — a loveless world — a bloody and violent world. DONALD J. MCKOY. donaldmckoy2010@ hot
