We need an airport hotel

Jamaica Gleaner - - OPINION&COMMENTARY -

THE EDITOR, Sir: WITH THE increased and welcome road infrastructure work that is ongoing within the Corporate Area, I now believe that there is a strong need for a hotel to be built on the grounds of the Norman Manley International Airport to cater to the short-stay traveller coming to Jamaica. The ideal spot would be the site of the car parking area.

This is a well-needed venture and won’t undermine the existing hotels in the Corporate Area, such as the Pegasus and the Courtleigh. Minister Shaw, can the construction be partly funded by the traveller’s departure tax, SCT and property tax gains?
