Garbage men stumble on foetus in trash

INVESTIGAT­ORS ATTACHED to the Kingston Eastern police are investigat­ing the gruesome circumstan­ces surroundin­g the discovery of a foetus that was found on Monday wrapped in newspaper and placed in a black plastic bag inside a garbage barrel.

The foetus was found about 7 a.m. while a National Solid Waste Management Authority garbage crew was conducting collection­s along the Sir Florizel Glasspole Highway.

A foul odour triggered the suspicion of the garbage collectors who made checks and unearthed the foetus inside a blue plastic barrel.

The discovery was made near the eastbound lane heading into St Thomas.

Superinten­dent Victor Hamilton, head of the Kingston Eastern Police

Division, said that investigat­ions were under way.

The Elletson Road Criminal Investigat­ion Branch is investigat­ing.
