One of two men held for theft granted bail

The Star (Jamaica) - - NEWS -

One of two men implicated in a stolen motor vehicle matter was granted $ 100,000 bail in the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday.

He is Lorenzo Godfrey, 28, a mortician from Clarendon, who has been charged with larceny of motor vehicle and conspiracy.

Shawn Scully, who is jointly charged with Godfrey, was remanded.

Both parties are to return to court on December 12, when the matter will be mentioned, as the file is incomplete.

Allegations are that both parties conspired to steal the complainant’s motor vehicle from the Caribbean Cement Company parking lot.

It is alleged that the motor vehicle, a Toyota Hiace bus, was tracked to Scully, who couldn’t give a proper account of the van to the cops.

The court heard that Scully had told the police that he got the van from a man to do some repairs.

However, the prosecution said that the motor vehicle had on a tracking system and it was traced to Scully.
