Li­ons roar at Tivoli Gar­dens

Foot­ball un­der lights re­turned to the Ed­ward Seaga Com­plex yes­ter­day for the first time in five years but Tivoli Gar­dens FC’s fans had lit­tle to cel­e­brate.

Home team Tivoli Gar­dens were whipped 3-1 by in­form Hum­ble Lion in the Red Stripe Pre­mier League (RSPL) match at the venue. Mid­fielder Le­vaughn Wil­liams was the star for the vis­i­tors as he scored a brace in the 11th and 50th min­utes. Fran­cois Swaby got the other goal for the win­ners.

An­dre Daw­son who hit the win­ner for Tivoli in a 1-0 vic­tory over Port­more United on Sun­day, scored the west Kingston club’s con­so­la­tion goal in the 39th minute.

The win lifted Hum­ble Lion to fifth in the RSPL with 12 points from nine games. Tivoli who started the day on top, dropped to se­cond with 16 points, one be­hind new lead­ers Mount Pleas­ant.

In two other games played yes­ter­day, Devon Hodges was on tar­get in the 90th minute as Mount Pleas­ant clipped Reno 1-0, while De­shane Beck­ford struck in the 82nd minute to hand Har­bour View a 1-0 win over Cav­a­lier.
