Greenwich Market

-

Our last stop takes us east from Bermondsey to the upmarket district of Greenwich on the south bank of the River Thames, home to the Royal Observatory, the National Maritime Museum and a magnificent park.

It’s also home to Greenwich Market, a prime destination for both bargain hunters and foodies. There’s been a market in Greenwich since the 14th century and today’s covered market is located in the historic town centre, which has many listed buildings from the early 19th century. While browsing the stalls, stop off for some excellent street food from every corner of the globe.

The market is open from 10.00 to 17.30, seven days a week. Fans of antiques and collectables should visit on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays – the other days are dedicated to the arts and crafts market with some unusual jewellery and original handmade clothing on sale. Greenwich station can be reached by overground train, on the DLR (Docklands Light Railway) or you can get there by riverboat from central London.
