Before the end of 2018 there will be two more premieres to enjoy, the oneact ballets to the music of Frederic Chopin, and Scheherazade, to the music of Nikolai Rimsky-korsakov. Both ballets will be performed as choreographed by Michel Fokine, from Russia’s Silver Age, at the Main Hall of the Astana Opera. These ballets have been put on with the support of the Ministry of Culture and Sport RK as part of the programme to celebrate the 20th anniversary of Astana. People’s Artists of Russia, Altynai Asylmuratova and Andris Liepa, will transfer the choreography of the legendary Fokine to the Kazakhstani stage. Michel Fokine was one of the most outstanding and innovative choreographers of the 20th century, and his famous ballets will be beautifully staged with recreations of the original costumes designed by the revolutionary costume designer, Leon Bakst.
